Seeing the sacred in the ordinary
From a young age, I found myself deeply attuned to the energy of both people and places. I was curious about what couldn’t always be seen or explained, and drawn to the subtle ways people and places seemed to influence how I felt.
By my late teens, I felt a strong calling towards a spiritual path. This calling has continued to shape my life, leading me to learn from diverse teachers and engage with a range of wisdom traditions over the past few decades.
With a background in anthropology and mental health, I've long been drawn to liminal spaces—those in-between, transformative, often tender places of transition that seem to exist outside the ordinary.
The spaces where magic happens.
Finding the sacred in the ordinary has been a thread running through much of my life. It manifests as a deep curiosity about human experience, suffering, healing, and the many ways people make meaning of their lives.
Living Between Worlds
My PhD fieldwork took me to a community in South East Asia, where I lived and documented the experiences of migrant workers navigating life after fleeing civil war and poverty in their homelands.
I spent five years writing a thesis on suffering.
The heaviness of the subject matter, I navigated only with the coexisting lightness and magic of animist-Buddhist culture.
From an animist perspective, all matter is alive and enchanted. There was a deep recognition of the power of the elements, ritual, reciprocity, and the unseen. Every day I witnessed the coexistence of joy and tragedy—the possibility of holding seemingly opposing truths at once.
I observed traditional healing. I witnessed profound suffering, the worst of humanity, and found myself asking what it truly means to heal.
When I returned home, the experience stayed with me. For a long time, it felt as though I was living in two separate worlds.
I worked as an academic for almost ten years and my professional career in mental health more broadly, has now spanned twenty-five years. Yet it became increasingly difficult to keep one foot in academia and the other in esoteric healing.
Exploring that tension became part of my own path. I studied with healers from different wisdom traditions and eventually became a practitioner of Esoteric Buddhism in a lineage with a focus on Tibetan sound healing.
My spiritual practice continues to deepen along with my professional understanding of mental health and human experience.
How I Work
People often find me during times of transition—between roles, relationships, life stages, or ways of being. These liminal spaces, though often uncertain, can become powerful thresholds for healing and transformation.
Rather than working from a single modality, I draw on the practices, perspectives, and wisdom traditions that best support the person in front of me. Tibetan sound healing is often at the heart of my work, along with meditation, ritual, energy healing, and intuitive guidance.
Over the years, I've come to realise that the seemingly different threads of my life—anthropology, mental health, Buddhism, and esoteric healing—were never separate. Together, they shape the way I hold space: grounded, intuitive, and deeply respectful of each person's unique path.
